Eligibility is determined by age on the first day of the Competition.

March 24 through April 1, 2019 – The Junior and Intermediate Competitions Sun, Mar 24 – afternoon and early evening – Junior Solo – First Round (15 min per pianist) – Mon, Mar 25 – afternoon and early evening – Intermediate Solo – First Round (20 min per pianist) Tues, Mar 26 – afternoon – Intermediate Solo – First Round continuation (20 min per pianist) Wed, Mar 27 – afternoon and early evening – Junior and Intermediate Solo Semi Finals Thurs, Mar 28 – afternoon and early evening – Junior Concerto First Round, with 2nd Piano Fri, Mar 29 – afternoon and early evening – Intermediate Concerto First Round, with 2nd Piano Sat, Mar 30 – masterclasses for contestants – 10 am and 2 pm Sat, Mar 30 – Junior and Intermediate Solo Finals – 6 pm – $25 per ticket – sold through the Waring office
Sun, Mar 31 – DARK Mon, April 1 – 7 PM – Junior and Intermediate Concerto Finals with Waring Festival Orchestra – for tickets, McCallum Box Office
The Competition is held biennially with the Junior and Intermediate Competitions scheduled for 2019 and the Senior Competition scheduled for end of March, beginning of April, 2021.
All pianists must participate in the Solo and may participate in the Concerto competition. Separate awards are given for both solo and concerto divisions.
The Waring also sponsors Master Classes with distinguished teachers. Competitors are strongly encouraged to perform in or audit these valuable classes.
