Junior (pianists through age 12)
Intermediate (pianists ages 13 through 17)
Senior (pianists ages 18 through 30)
Eligibility is determined by age on the first day of the Competition.
The Competition is held biennially (every other year) with the Junior and Intermediate Competitions scheduled for 2024 and 2028 and the Senior Competition scheduled for 2022 and 2026.
All pianists must participate in the Solo and may participate in the Concerto competition. Separate awards are given for both solo and concerto divisions.
The Waring also sponsors Master Classes with distinguished judges. Contestants who don’t advance into the files are strongly encouraged to perform in these valuable classes. We encourage all contestants to audit them. It’s amazing what one can learn by watching others! There is no fee for contestants to audit and participate in the Master Classes.
