Senior Competition Schedule

The 2017 Senior Competition March 26 – April 2, 2017.

All rounds of the competition were open to the public. All preliminary rounds and master classes were free to the audience at the Indian Wells Theater, located on the campus of CSUSB-Palm Desert, 37-500 Cook St., Palm Desert, CA 92211

Sunday, March 26

Local Master Class

Starts at 2:00 pm in the Indian Wells Theater at CSUSB-Palm Desert Campus, 37-500 Cook St., Palm Desert, CA 92211. Teacher: John Bayless Free admission, free parking

Solo Round 1

Each pianist plays a 30 minute solo program of their choice at the Indian Wells Theater. 5 contestants per session. Includes Earl Wild transcription.

Evening Session  7:00 – 10:00 pm

Monday, March 27

Solo Round 1

Each pianist plays a 30 minute solo program of their choice at the Indian Wells Theater, 5 contestants per session.

Afternoon Session 2:00 – 5:00 pm

Tuesday, March 28

Solo Round 1

Each pianist plays a 30 minute solo program of their choice at the Indian Wells Theater. 5 contestants per session. Includes Earl Wild transcription.

Morning session 9:00 – 12:00 pm
Afternoon Session 2:00 – 5:00 pm
Evening Session 7:00 – 10:00 pm

 

Wednesday, March 29

Solo Semi-Finals

Each pianist plays a 45 minute solo program of their choice at the Indian Wells Theater. Approximately 4 contestants per session.

Morning Session 9:00 – 12:00 pm
Afternoon Session 2:00 pm – 5:00 pm
Evening Session 7:00 – 10:00 pm

 

Thursday, March 30

Concerto Round 1

Each pianist plays 20 minutes from the concerto of their choice, accompanied by 2nd piano. 5 contestants per session.

Morning Session 9:00 – 12:00 pm
Afternoon Session 2:00 – 5:00 pm
Evening Session 7:00 – 10:00 pm

 

Friday, March 31

Concerto Round 1

Each pianist plays full concerto accompanied by 2nd piano, at the Indian Wells Theater.  Free admission, free parking

Morning Session 9:00 am:

Afternoon Session 2:00 pm:

Solo Finals Awards

Each pianist plays 45 minutes. 3 contestants, followed by jury deliberations to determine who gets 1st, 2nd, and 3rd place. Earl Wild Transcription Prize and Audience Favorite Award announced.
Solo Final requires a $ 20 ticket, purchase at the box office during the competition rounds or before start of Performance.
