  • Eligibility is governed by age on the first day of competition.
  • Please see Rules and Regulations for required repertoire before filling out this application.
  • Payment of US$ 200 may be paid on line by credit card or you can include a check from a US bank with the Supplemental Application Materials mailed to the VWIPC.

NOTE:

  • All applicants must download, print, fill out, and mail in the following cover pages with the following materials to complete the application process:
    • copy of a birth certificate or a passport; DO NOT SEND ORIGINALS
    • Audio CD with typed list of CD repertoire
  • All applicants must be prepared to compete in all categories: solo, concerto, and chamber music.
  • All concerto finalists will play a complete concerto with orchestra.

Round I (20 minutes)


Round II (45 minutes) — Repertoire must be different from Round I


Round III (45 Minutes): Finals — Selected repertoire from Rounds I & II may be repeated


COMPLETE CONCERTO:

  • One work for piano and orchestra chosen from the competition list
  • The first round will have a 20 minute time limit and will be played with second piano accompaniment.

Note: all finalists will perform their complete concerto with orchestra.

PIANO TRIO:
Twelve pianists from Solo Round I will be selected to perform the first movement of the Trio from the Competition List with string players provided by the Competition

MASTER CLASS:
Competitors who perform in the first round but are not advanced to the second solo round are offered the opportunity to perform in a master class with one of the adjudicators.

Any work originally scored for solo piano. (Use same format as above to list repertoire)


APPLICANT AGREEMENT:
I declare that the information submitted in my application to the Virginia Waring International Piano Competition [the Competition] is complete and truthful. If accepted as a contestant in the competition, I shall abide by all rules and regulations of the Competition. The Competition reserves the right, without payment of fees to record and distribute recordings for media and other purposes and televise, broadcast, film, record, videotape, photograph or stream live all stages of the Competition, all prize performances and concerts. If I receive an award in the Competition, I shall honor all commitments resulting from the award made on my behalf by the Competition. I will give recognition of that award in all future publicity. I also understand that my application is not complete until payment and all required materials are received by VWIPC.
